White Oak Orchids was founded in early 1981 on the principles of unparalleled service and excellence. The combined total of years of orchid growing by Scott, Gwen and staff exceeds 100 years. Growing orchids is not just a job; it's a passionate way of life. We have been community minded since the start; involved with local orchid clubs and many charities

We have always supported our local botanical gardens. We also have supported both Laguna Honda Hospital,San Francisco and Recreation Center for the Handicapped of San Francisco. We donate material for "hands on" therapy and for fund raising.

We also support "OrchidMania", a grass roots AIDS relief organization based in San Francisco. OM holds the world's largest garage sale of orchids each Mother's Day weekend to raise funds for AIDS charities all around the world.

The Nine Lives Foundation for cats (the four legged kind!) benefits from White Oak Orchids as well. Nine Lives Foundation is a no-kill shelter for felines in Redwood City, CA.

Our nursery was originally built in 1946; since then, many changes have taken place. The redwood support structure remains, with many new details for the benefit of orchids and humans alike.

Today, we have 25,000 square feet of space under glass that are operated with the finest state of the art environment equipment and controls. Our new space has been fabulous for the plants and humans alike. (The humans especially love the view of the Pacific Ocean every day on the way to the nursery!) We are confident that our facilities will exceed your expectations!
