ANGRAEOIDS

Angraeoids are a group of orchids that can varies in size ranging from very small to very large. The flowers are usually quite fragrant at night having white or green flowers. And most of the plants are very handsome in and out of bloom.

LIGHT: Angraecoids require bright light to bloom well. The proper light level ranges from
2,000-2,500 foot candles. Leaves should be a medium green in color.

TEMPERATURE: Angraecoids are intermediate/warm growers and enjoy a temperature range between 60-90oF. Higher temperatures can be tolerated if accompanied by increased humidity and decreased light levels.

WATER: Angraecoids need to be kept evenly moist. Water early in the morning to keep the leaves clean and so that they can dry before nightfall. This group tends to get black spot if kept cold and damp.

HUMIDITY: Angraecoids need humidity between 50% and 70%. Humidity can be increased by frequent misting or by the use of trays partially filled with gravel and water so that the pots never sit in the water. In humid climates, provide your Angraecoids with good air circulation so that the leaves can dry before nightfall.

FERTILIZER: Angraecoids should be fed with a balanced fertilizer (20-20-20) at ¼ - ½ strength every 1 to 2 weeks. Flush with plain water once a month to leach out unwanted salts.

POTTING/REBASKETING: Repot the large type with a fast draining mix (medium to large grade bark) and the miniature type with fine grade mix (including bark, perlite and rock). Do not repot unless there is root activity. Otherwise your plants may suffer a set-back, which may take them many years to recover.
